How to resolve abnormal noise from a fish feed pellet extruder?

Motor noise is the core source of noise. Fish feed pellet extruders are mostly small devices, and although the motor power is low, the noise is more noticeable in a confined environment. If the motor emits a high-frequency "piercing" sound, check for foreign objects between the rotor and stator. After cleaning, wrap the motor casing with a layer of sound-absorbing cotton (10mm thick, 30kg/m³ density), and then cover it with a metal protective shell to prevent pets from chewing it. For older motors, replace them directly with DC brushless motors, which operate at 20-30 decibels lower noise than traditional AC motors and are equipped with a soft-start function to avoid the impact noise at startup. When installing the motor, use a flexible bracket connected to the machine body via spring damping components to reduce vibration transmission.

Feed friction noise is related to the characteristics of pet food. Extruded pet food often contains meat ingredients, and the surface of the pellets is rough, easily generating friction noise with the feeding trough. A 3mm thick food-grade silicone pad can be attached to the inner wall of the feeding trough, which not only reduces friction noise but also prevents food from sticking together. Adjust the height of the feeder's outlet from 5cm to 2cm above the feeding trough to shorten the feed's falling distance and avoid impact noise from free fall. For automatic quantitative feeders, optimize the discharging sequence by adopting an "intermittent discharging" mode, reducing the amount of feed discharged each time to 1/3 of the original amount, completing the feeding in 3 batches to reduce noise from feed accumulation at a single time.

Component resonance noise needs to be addressed through structural optimization. Check the feeder's plastic shell for deformation; deformed areas are prone to resonance. This can be repaired by heating and reshaping, or by attaching counterweights (such as stainless steel sheets) to the resonance points to change the vibration frequency. Install a 5mm thick rubber isolation pad between the feed hopper and the machine body inside the feeder to prevent the hopper's vibration from being transmitted to the outer shell. When placing the feeder, avoid placing it directly on a hard surface or metal frame; instead, place it on a wooden tray or rubber pad to absorb vibration using flexible materials. In addition, regularly clean the inside of the feeder to remove grease and food residue. Grease in pet food easily attracts dust, which increases friction in the transmission parts. Clean the feed hopper and feeding channel weekly with a neutral detergent to ensure smooth operation.
