How do you handle a differential oil leak in a feed pellet machine?

Preliminary Preparations

- Tool Preparation: In addition to basic sockets, torque wrenches, etc., prepare additional sealant (oil-resistant, such as Loctite 596), sandpaper (one sheet each of 400 and 800 grit), oil stain remover (neutral), and a torque screwdriver.

- Accessories Preparation: Brand new differential assembly (matching the equipment model), reinforced sealing gaskets (preferably made of nitrile rubber), oil-resistant sealant, special anti-loosening bolts, and the same type of lubricating oil and oil level gauge.

- Safety and Environment: In addition to standard safety measures, lay an oil-proof mat under the equipment and prepare oil-absorbing paper to prevent oil leakage and environmental pollution; smoking is prohibited in the maintenance area, and fire extinguishers are provided.

Replacement Steps

1. Oil Stain Cleaning and Draining: First, wipe the external oil stains of the differential with absorbent paper, then spray with a neutral detergent and wipe clean. Locate the drain bolt, place an oil collection tray underneath, and slowly unscrew the bolt to drain the oil. After the oil has completely drained, flush the inside of the drain hole with detergent to ensure there are no residue blockages.

2. Disassembling the End Cover and Housing: When disassembling the end cover bolts, carefully observe the oil penetration on the end cover sealing surface and record it. Before removing the differential housing bolts of the goat feed pellet making machine, use a marker to make alignment marks at the connection between the housing and the machine body to ensure accurate installation. Gently tap the edge of the housing with a copper hammer until a gap appears, then insert a screwdriver to pry and smoothly remove the housing.

3. Disassembly and Inspection of the Old Differential: After removing the old differential, check the sealing surface for deformation or scratches. Deep scratches indicate a major cause of seal failure. Also check the wear of the gears and bearings to provide a reference for subsequent equipment maintenance.

4. Deep Cleaning of the Mounting Cavity: Thoroughly clean the mounting cavity with a brush and cleaning agent, focusing on removing residual sealant and oil. Use 800-grit sandpaper to polish the mounting surface until smooth and burr-free. After cleaning, wipe dry with a clean cloth to ensure no moisture remains.

5. Sealing of the New Differential: Apply oil-resistant sealant evenly to the sealing surface of the new differential, with a thickness of 0.8-1mm. The sealant should cover the entire sealing surface, avoiding any missed areas. Place the reinforced sealing gasket into the sealing groove in its original position and gently press it in place by hand.

6. Precise Installation and Tightening: Align with the previously marked alignment points and smoothly place the new differential into the mounting cavity, ensuring the sealing gasket is not misaligned. Tighten the housing bolts in three stages, diagonally: first, pre-tighten (50 N·m torque); second, partially tighten (150 N·m torque); third, fully tighten (according to the torque specified in the equipment manual, typically 200 N·m). Allow 5 minutes between each tightening to allow the sealant to fully adhere.

7. End Cap Reinstallation and Leak Prevention: Replace the end cap sealing gasket. Apply a thin layer of sealant evenly to both sides of the gasket. Align the gasket with the end cap mounting holes and tighten the bolts diagonally, controlling the torque to 90 N·m. After installation, touch the sealing surface to ensure there are no protrusions or gaps.

8. Lubrication and Leak Testing: Add lubricating oil to the standard level and let it stand for 10 minutes to observe the sealing surface for any signs of leakage. If there is no leakage, turn on the power and run the homemade chicken feed machine idle for 10 minutes. After stopping the machine, check the oil level and sealing condition again. After confirming there are no abnormalities, conduct a load test.
