What is the working principle of a fish food pellet making production line?

Overall Operational Logic

The workflow of a fish feed pellet production line begins with raw material input. First, various raw materials, such as wheat flour, soybean flour, corn flour, fish meal, vitamins, and minerals, are accurately fed into the production line via conveyor equipment. These raw materials enter the pulverizer, where they are pulverized into fine particles by the high-speed rotating hammers and toothed plates, subjected to strong impact and friction to meet the particle size requirements of subsequent processing. Next, the pulverized raw materials are conveyed to the mixer. Inside the mixer, the rotation of the agitator blades or screw conveyor causes the various raw materials to tumble, convection, and diffuse fully in three-dimensional space, ensuring that trace components such as vitamins and minerals are evenly distributed throughout the material system, forming a nutritionally balanced mixture.

Detailed Explanation of the Working Principles of Each Equipment

1. The crusher mainly utilizes impact, shearing, and friction forces to break raw materials. Taking the common hammer mill as an example, it has a high-speed rotating rotor with several hammers fixed on it. When the raw material enters the crushing chamber, it is gradually crushed into fine particles by collision and friction with the toothed plates, screens, and other components under the high-speed impact of the hammers. The aperture size of the screen determines the particle size of the crushed material, and operators can change screens with different aperture sizes according to production needs.

2. The mixer's working principle is based on the convection, diffusion, and shearing motion of materials. The horizontal twin-shaft paddle mixer is one of the commonly used equipment in feed production. It has two parallel stirring shafts with staggered paddles installed on them. During the mixing process, the two shafts rotate in opposite directions, driving the paddles to push the material in opposite directions, creating strong convection and shearing forces within the machine. Simultaneously, under its own gravity and the action of the paddles, the material continuously tumbles and diffuses, thus achieving uniform mixing of various raw materials.

3. The extruder is a key piece of equipment in a fish feed pellet production line, and its working principle is relatively complex. Taking a twin-screw extruder as an example, after the material enters the barrel from the hopper, it is pumped forward along the screw channels by a pair of parallel and meshing screws. The screws are typically divided into a conveying section, a compression and melting section, and a homogenizing section. In the conveying section, the material is gradually compacted and conveyed forward; upon entering the compression and melting section, due to changes in the screw structure, the pressure on the material continuously increases. Simultaneously, under external heating of the barrel and the intense stirring, mixing, and shearing action on the material itself, the temperature rises rapidly, the material begins to melt, starch gelatinizes, and protein denatures; in the homogenizing section, the material is further heated and pressurized, evenly distributed onto the die plate by a distributor plate, and then instantly extruded from the die holes. When the material is extruded from the die holes, the pressure drops sharply, and the moisture rapidly vaporizes and expands, causing the material to expand and form extruded feed pellets with a specific shape and structure.

4. Dryers generally use the principle of hot air drying. Hot air is sent into the dryer by a fan, ensuring full contact with the feed pellets. Hot air transfers its heat to the feed pellets, causing the moisture in the pellets to evaporate rapidly into water vapor. The water vapor is then expelled from the dryer with the flow of hot air, thus drying the feed pellets. To improve drying efficiency and uniformity, the dryer is usually equipped with a stirring or conveying device to continuously agitate the feed pellets during the drying process, ensuring that each pellet has sufficient contact with the hot air.

Understanding the Principles and Their Benefits to Production

Understanding the working principles of each piece of equipment in a fish feed pellet production line is crucial for effective production in many ways. During equipment operation, operators can adjust operating parameters based on this understanding. For example, when using a grinder, precise control of parameters such as rotor speed, the number and shape of hammers, and screen aperture, according to the characteristics of the raw materials and the required particle size, achieves optimal grinding results, improving production efficiency while reducing energy consumption and equipment wear. In mixer operation, adjusting parameters such as the speed of the mixing blades, mixing time, and material filling rate, based on mixing principles, ensures uniform mixing of various raw materials, preventing nutritional imbalances in the feed caused by uneven mixing.
