What steps are involved in making aquatic floating fish pellet feed?

Production process description
The first step is to optimize the raw material ratio, using high-protein ingredients (fish meal and soybean meal accounting for 40%-50%), adding 20%-30% starch to enhance puffing, and adding a water-repellent (such as guar gum). All ingredients are then ground to a fine powder of 0.8-1.5 mm to ensure uniform puffing.
The second step is conditioning pretreatment. After mixing the raw materials with water (controlling the moisture content at 16%-18%), they are then heated in a conditioner at 80-90°C steam for 2-3 minutes to achieve initial gelatinization of the starch.
The third step is twin-screw extrusion, a crucial step for achieving floatability. The raw materials enter the twin-screw extruder, where the starch is completely gelatinized and the protein is denatured, forming a porous structure. They are then extruded under high pressure through a special floatation die. The sudden drop in pressure causes the water to instantly vaporize, reducing the feed density to 0.8-1.1 g/cm³, thus ensuring floatability. The
fourth step is multi-layer drying. The expanded pellets are fed into a three-layer belt dryer, where they are dried at 60-70°C in hot air, reducing the moisture content from 20%-22% to 8%-10%, enhancing water resistance.
The fifth step is vacuum coating. After cooling, the pellets are sprayed with fish oil or shrimp oil (3%-5%) using a vacuum coating machine to prevent spillage and contamination of the water. Finally, the pellets are packaged after passing the floatation test (must be ≥95% and must float for 4 hours without sinking).
