How to Clean a Dog Food Pellet Machine

content

Cleaning dog food manufacturing equipment requires adhering to the core principles of "power off and cooling first, zoned cleaning, and drying and maintenance." The complete process is divided into four stages: preparation, main cleaning, special cleaning of the extruder, and drying and inspection. The first stage, preparation, begins with disconnecting the power and unplugging the power cord to avoid electric shock during cleaning. Wait for the equipment to cool completely, especially the extruder's extrusion chamber, which can reach 120-160℃ after operation. Allow it to cool to room temperature (approximately 30 minutes) before operating to prevent burns. Simultaneously, prepare cleaning tools: a soft-bristled brush, a stainless steel scraper, a high-pressure water gun, food-grade detergent, dry cloths, and disinfectant spray. Ensure tools are free of oil and impurities to avoid secondary contamination.

The second stage, main cleaning, involves disassembling removable parts (feed hopper, discharge port, grading sieve, cutter). Use a soft-bristled brush to remove residual dog food particles and dust from the surface, then rinse with warm water. For stubborn oil stains, add a small amount of food-grade detergent, scrub, and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Wipe the outer casing of the pet food extrusion equipment machine with a dry cloth to remove surface dust and oil. Avoid directly washing the motor and other electrical components with water to prevent short circuits. The feeding conveyor system requires thorough cleaning. Use a scraper to remove residual material from the feeding screw, then use a brush to ensure the conveying channel is clear and unobstructed.

The third stage is specialized cleaning of the pet food extrusion machine, which is the core and most challenging part of the entire cleaning process. First, disassemble the extruder's die and screw. The die's small aperture easily traps burnt material; use a soft-bristled brush and toothpick to clean the residue from each aperture, then soak in warm water for 10 minutes before rinsing. Residual material on the screw surface should be gently scraped off with a scraper, taking care not to scratch the wear-resistant coating. After scraping, clean with a soft-bristled brush and warm water. The inner wall of the extrusion chamber should be cleaned with a special cleaning brush, wiping deep inside to remove the attached burnt layer and oil. If residue is severe, dilute food-grade detergent and pour it into the chamber, soaking for 20 minutes before scrubbing. After cleaning, thoroughly rinse all parts with clean water to ensure no cleaning agent residue remains.

The fourth stage is drying and inspection. Place all cleaned parts in a well-ventilated, dry place to air dry, or use a heat gun at a low temperature to dry them, ensuring no moisture remains-residual moisture can easily lead to rust and bacterial growth. After drying, check the cleanliness of each part, especially the die orifice and screw surface of the extruder, ensuring no residue or stains. Then, assemble the equipment in the reverse order of disassembly. After assembly, run the equipment unloaded for 3-5 minutes to check for smooth operation.

Finally, disinfect key areas such as the feed inlet and discharge outlet of the Single-Screw Pet Food Extrusion Machine with disinfectant spray to complete the entire cleaning process. It is recommended to perform basic cleaning after each production run and deep cleaning once a week to ensure long-term stable operation of the equipment.
