How to judge the lack of lubrication of pellet feed machine by the temperature of key components？

One of the core functions of lubricating grease is cooling. If the temperature of key moving parts of a feed pellet machine (such as bearings and gearboxes) rises abnormally, exceeding the normal operating range, it's likely due to insufficient lubrication, preventing the heat from dissipating quickly.

 

 

Step 1: Determine the normal temperature range of each component: The normal operating temperature of the roller bearing is 30-40°C (≤15°C above ambient temperature), and the gearbox housing temperature should not exceed 50°C. If lubrication is insufficient, the heat generated by component friction cannot be dissipated by the grease, causing the temperature to rise rapidly. Step 2: Use contact testing (wearing high-temperature-resistant gloves) or an infrared thermometer to determine if the heat is too hot (≥55°C) or if the infrared thermometer indicates a gearbox temperature exceeding 60°C, indicating insufficient lubrication. Also, observe temperature trends: Under normal circumstances, component temperatures stabilize after 30 minutes of operation. If the temperature continues to rise (by more than 5°C every 10 minutes) and there are no other faults (such as material blockage or overload), it can be considered insufficient lubrication. The grease may have dried up or the amount of oil is too low to cover the friction surfaces of the components.

 

 

If you notice an abnormally high component temperature, shut down the machine and allow it to cool to room temperature. Check the lubricant level and condition, refill or replace it, and restart the machine after the temperature returns to normal to prevent component deformation or seizure caused by high temperatures.
