How to reduce water pollution in fish feed pellet production lines
Leave a message
The fish food extruder line primarily utilizes two processes to make its feed "waterproof and soluble." The first is "double-layer coating": After extrusion, the feed enters a coating machine where it is first sprayed with a layer of starch adhesive (inner layer) to make the feed pellets more compact and prevent rapid water penetration; then, a layer of food-grade paraffin emulsion is sprayed on (outer layer) to form a waterproof film, preventing the feed from dissolving in water. This double-layer coating allows the extruded feed to remain intact in water for 3-5 minutes, giving fish enough time to consume it without leaving much feed residue.
The second is "high compression ratio pelleting": The extruder die compression ratio on the production line can reach 1:8-1:10, much higher than the compression ratio of ordinary feed (1:4-1:6). This high compression ratio results in denser, more compact feed pellets, making it difficult for water molecules to penetrate. Therefore, the feed does not dissolve quickly in water, and even if a small amount of uneaten feed sinks to the bottom, it will not immediately decompose, reducing water pollution.

Impact on fish growth environment (water quality) and fish
Extruded fish food helps maintain water quality. For example, in koi ponds using regular fish food, one-third of the water needs to be changed weekly, otherwise the water will become smelly. With extruded fish food, only a water change every two weeks is needed, and the water remains clear. The levels of ammonia nitrogen and nitrite in the water can be reduced by 40%-50%. With fewer harmful substances, the fish won't suffer from oxygen deficiency or illness due to poor water quality. Improved water quality also leads to better fish growth-the fish are more active, swim more powerfully, and eat more. Their skin is also shinier, their colors more vibrant, and they look more appealing. For instance, goldfish fed extruded fish food have shinier scales and a more vibrant red color, making them more popular in the market than goldfish fed regular fish food. In addition, the extruder pellet machine line can adjust the buoyancy of the feed according to the feeding habits of the fish-surface fish (such as silver carp) use buoyancy to compress the feed, so that the feed floats on the surface and does not sink to the bottom to pollute the water; bottom fish (such as carp) use sinking to compress the feed, so that the feed sinks to the bottom and there is no residue floating on the surface after the fish finish eating, further protecting water quality.
