To what extent can fish feed produced by extrusion processing guarantee the health and safety of fish?

Fish diseases are the biggest threat to aquaculture. Outbreaks of enteritis and gill rot can result in significant losses, and many fish diseases are related to feed – for example, mold in the feed can cause fungal poisoning, and E. coli can cause enteritis. However, fish farmers using extruded fish feed rarely encounter these problems because the fish feed pellet production line eliminates these "health hazards" during the manufacturing process. Below, we'll explain how the production line works.
How to ensure feed safety on a fish feed production line?
Fish feed extrusion pellet production lines primarily ensure feed safety through two processes. The first is "high-temperature sterilization": During the extrusion process, a high temperature of 110-130℃ is maintained for 20-30 seconds. This temperature kills over 99% of harmful bacteria and molds in the raw materials, such as E. coli and aflatoxin. Aflatoxin is a toxin produced by mold that severely damages the fish's liver. It is difficult to remove from ordinary feed, but the high temperature of the extrusion process decomposes aflatoxin, reducing its content to below safe standards (≤5μg/kg), ensuring the fish will not suffer liver damage.
The second is "multi-stage raw material removal": Before the raw materials enter the extruder, they undergo three "filtration" processes-first, a vibrating screen removes large impurities such as stones and weeds; then, a magnetic separator adsorbs metallic impurities such as iron nails and wires, preventing fish from injuring their intestines; finally, an air separator blows away dust and light impurities. These three processes remove over 95% of the impurities from the raw materials, ensuring the feed is clean and free of foreign matter.
