How to Use a Diesel Dry Type floating fish feed making machine
1. Pre-Start Inspection (Power → Transmission → Working System)
- Power system: check the diesel tank level - not lower than 2/3 of capacity. Use No. 0 diesel for normal temperatures or No. −10 diesel for low temperatures. After refueling, tighten the tank cap. Open the diesel filter vent valve to purge air from the fuel system to avoid insufficient fuel supply at start-up. Check the engine-oil level between the dipstick marks; use CD-grade or higher diesel engine oil. For a new machine, change the engine oil before the first start. After the first start, change oil according to the manual - typically every 50–100 operating hours - and clean or replace the air and fuel filters as scheduled.
- Transmission system: check belt tension - the belt should sink 10–15 mm when pressed with a finger; adjust pulley spacing if too loose or tight. Check gearbox lubricating oil - it should be clear and at the correct level.
- Working system: the key check is the ring-die to pressure-roller gap: the normal gap is 0.1–0.3 mm, measured with a feeler gauge and adjusted with the adjusting bolts. Clean residual feed and debris from inside the machine, then rotate the main shaft by hand to ensure there is no jamming.
2. Raw-Material Preparation
- Grinding: crush corn, soybean meal and other materials to 40–60 mesh to prevent large particles clogging the ring die.
- Moisture: control at 15–17%. Practical test: grab the material - it should clump together and crumble easily when lightly touched. Dry if too wet; spray water and mix well if too dry.
- Binder: add 2–3% starch as a binder to improve feed buoyancy.
- Mixing: mix per the formula for at least 5 minutes to ensure even distribution of additives.
3. Safety Compliance
- Wear work clothes, non-slip shoes and dust masks; no loose clothing or jewelry that could be caught in the equipment.
- Keep a safe area of at least 1.5 m around the equipment, free of debris and flammable or explosive materials.
- Check the emergency stop button and safety guard before start-up; do not start a faulty machine.
- Diesel exhaust contains carbon monoxide - run the machine outdoors or in a ventilated area; keep a dry-powder or CO₂ extinguisher nearby for diesel fires.
4. Price Reference
Diesel Dry Type floating fish feed pellet extruder machine ranges from about US$1,500 to US$8,000 depending on model and configuration (example range - request an itemized quotation).
