How To Improve The Water Stability Of Pet Feed Extruder Machine Feed For Different Animals?

Influencing Factors
Many fish farmers make the mistake of using a "one-size-fits-all" approach, ignoring the habits of aquatic animals and using the same formula and dog food extruders. For example, feeding sinking feed to grass carp, which feed at the surface, results in the feed sinking quickly to the bottom, and the grass carp scatter before eating much; feeding shrimp overly hard fish food is too difficult for their small claws to grasp, causing them to circle around the feed and resulting in waste; feeding turtles ordinary fish food causes it to mold if soaked at the bottom for too long, making the turtles prone to gastroenteritis. The water stability of general-purpose feeds is either "insufficient" or "excessive." For example, fish food that is water-resistant for 3 minutes is sufficient, but far from enough for feeding turtles; turtle food that is water-resistant for 10 minutes will cause the feed to stay on the surface for too long when used for feeding fish, attracting other fish to compete for it. The core of these problems is the failure to adjust the water stability strategy of pet feed extruders according to the feeding rhythm and habitat of aquatic animals.
Solution
Tailor-made feeds are key to meeting the specific needs of different aquatic animals. For surface-dwelling fish (such as grass carp, silver carp, and bighead carp), a water resistance of 3-5 minutes is sufficient. The focus is on allowing the fish enough time to feed at the surface without polluting the water. Improving water stability is crucial for increasing starch gelatinization. The extruder temperature should be controlled at 90-95℃ to ensure complete starch gelatinization and the formation of a sticky network. Slightly larger pellets (2-3 mm) facilitate pecking. For shrimp (such as whiteleg shrimp and giant freshwater prawn), a water resistance of 5-8 minutes is required because shrimp feed slowly and need to graze in the water's middle layer. In addition to adding 1.5%-2% xanthan gum to enhance stickiness, the pellets should be made smaller (1-2 mm) for easier gripping by the shrimp's claws. The extrusion pressure should be set to 10 MPa to ensure the pellets are compact but not hard. For turtles (such as red-eared sliders and Chinese pond turtles), the food should be able to withstand water for 8-10 minutes, as turtles feed intermittently and the food will remain on the bottom for a relatively long time. A combination of konjac flour and wheat flour as a double binder is recommended, with 3% konjac flour and 8% wheat flour. This provides both strong binding and corrosion resistance. The pellets are made into flat shapes to fit the turtle's beak and feeding habits, preventing the food from breaking when the turtle chews.

about Us
We offer a one-year warranty on all machines. MIKIM's feed pellet mills, charcoal briquetting machines, and other equipment all come with a one-year warranty. During the warranty period, if any quality issues arise due to materials, design, or manufacturing defects, we will replace the damaged parts free of charge and perform repairs and adjustments. However, easily damaged parts are unlikely to be covered under the free warranty, thus ensuring stable operation of the equipment throughout its core lifespan.
On-site installation, commissioning, and technical guidance: For complex complete sets of equipment such as feed production lines and extruders, we will dispatch professional technicians to the customer's location to handle on-site installation and commissioning, ensuring the equipment can be smoothly integrated into the customer's production process and meet preset production standards. Our technicians will also visit regularly to resolve various technical malfunctions and provide long-term on-site guidance on equipment operation and routine maintenance.
