Can a Floating Fish Feed Extruder be converted into a poultry feed pellet mill?

Modifications to fish feed making machines need to be implemented according to specific needs, focusing on the feeding system, die, screw, and heating system. When processing high-fiber feeds (such as cattle, sheep, and rabbit feed), the feeding system modification is key. The original single-screw feeding should be replaced with a double-screw forced feeding system, and the feeding motor power should be increased by 1-2kW to ensure smooth feeding of high-fiber raw materials. Simultaneously, a high-compression-ratio wear-resistant screw (compression ratio 1:6-1:7) and a large-diameter die (6-8mm) should be used. The screw material should be 38CrMoAlA alloy steel, nitrided to improve wear resistance. When processing low-hardness feeds (such as chicken and pet food), no modification to the feeding system is necessary. The focus is on replacing the die with a low-compression-ratio one (1:4-1:5) and installing a cooling device at the barrel outlet to quickly reduce pellet temperature and improve crispness.

Electrical system modifications must be adapted to load changes. When processing high-fiber feed, the load on the floating fish extruder machine increases, requiring replacement with larger capacity circuit breakers and thermal overload protectors, such as replacing the original 30A circuit breaker with a 50A one to ensure safe motor operation. Simultaneously, a motor temperature monitoring device should be installed to automatically shut down the machine when the motor temperature exceeds 120℃ to prevent overload burnout. For small fish feed pellet mills, a frequency converter can be added to achieve stepless adjustment of the screw speed, adapting to the processing needs of different feeds; for example, the speed can be 300 rpm when processing fish feed and reduced to 200 rpm when processing chicken feed.

Safe operation and quality control are core guarantees for the floating fish feed extruder process. Before operation, check that the modified parts of the equipment are secure and that the clearance between the mold and the screw is normal (0.1-0.3mm) to avoid jamming during operation. Before processing different types of feed, thoroughly clean the residual raw materials in the barrel and mold to prevent cross-contamination. If processing fish feed and then switching to chicken feed, rinse the barrel with cornstarch 2-3 times. In terms of quality control, the hardness, moisture content, and nutrient content of feed pellets need to be tested regularly. Fish feed hardness should reach 80-100N, chicken feed hardness should be controlled at 40-60N, and ruminant feed moisture content should be ≤14% to ensure compliance with the feeding standards of the corresponding animals.
