How to troubleshoot a fish feed pellet extruder malfunction?

content

The transmission system failures of fish feed production equipment are mainly divided into three categories: belt drive failures, chain drive failures, and reducer failures. Among them, belt drive is the mainstream transmission method for small and medium-sized extruders and has the highest failure rate. Belt drive failures manifest as the motor running but the screw not turning, or the speed being significantly insufficient. The core causes include belt aging and loosening, belt breakage, and pulley slippage. Troubleshooting steps: First, observe the belt condition. If the belt is broken, replace it immediately with an industrial transmission belt of the same model. If the belt is loose, press it by hand; if it sinks more than 2cm, the tension is insufficient, and the pulley spacing needs to be adjusted and the tension tightened. If there is oil or wear on the pulley surface, it will cause slippage; clean the oil or replace the pulley.

Chain drive failures are more common in twin-screw fish feed extruder machines, manifesting as a loose, detached, or broken chain, leading to an interruption of power transmission. During troubleshooting, check the chain tension. If loose, adjust the tensioner. If the chain has come off, reinstall and calibrate the sprocket alignment to prevent chain re-detachment due to sprocket misalignment. If the chain is severely worn or broken, replace it and check the sprocket teeth for wear; replace severely worn sprocket teeth as well. Regularly add lubricating oil to chain drives to prevent dry friction and accelerated wear, which is crucial for preventing malfunctions.

Gearbox failure is a serious transmission system malfunction, manifesting as abnormal noise and inability to transmit power. Causes include insufficient lubricating oil, gear wear, and a broken output shaft. Troubleshooting steps: First, check the gearbox lubricating oil level; add dedicated gear oil if insufficient. If there is abnormal noise, open the gearbox inspection window and check for gear wear and abnormal meshing; replace severely worn gears. If the output shaft is broken, disassemble the gearbox and replace the output shaft, while also checking for damage to the screw connection. Regularly maintain the gearbox, changing the lubricating oil every 500 hours of operation to prevent overload operation that could damage the gears. Troubleshooting of the transmission system must be carried out with the power off. After replacing the parts, a no-load test run must be conducted to ensure smooth power transmission before putting it into production.
