Before changing the grinding disc, understand this: simply replacing the disc isn't enough; proper adjustments are essential for ensuring the machine operates correctly. In addition to standard tools, prepare a small ruler to check the flatness of the grinding disc. First, disconnect the power, remove the machine cover, and follow the previous steps to remove the old disc. Clean the machine cavity and spindle thoroughly.
When installing the new disc, place it on the spindle without tightening the screws. Gently press the edge of the disc with your hand and rotate it slightly to check for stability and unevenness. If it's uneven, there may be impurities on the spindle, or the new disc itself may be uneven. In this case, you can place a small piece of thin paper under the disc (don't use too much) to adjust it until it's level.
After tightening the screws, use a ruler to measure the distance from the edge of the grinding disc to the machine cavity. The distance should be consistent around all four sides, with an error of no more than 1 mm. This ensures that the machine won't be unbalanced during operation. Many people skip this step, causing the grinding disc to rub against the machine cavity during operation, resulting in abnormal noise and wear on both the disc and the cavity.
The testing process involves two steps: First, run the machine idle for one minute after powering it on. Listen for a uniform sound, avoiding any unusual "clunking" noises. Simultaneously, observe the smooth rotation of the grinding discs to ensure there is no shaking. Second, load the machine and add a small amount of raw material to check the uniformity of the pellets and any change in pellet hardness. If the pellets are normal, the machine is properly configured. If the pellets are too coarse, the gap between the grinding discs may be too large, requiring adjustment of the adjusting nut on the main shaft (adjustment methods vary depending on the machine; refer to the instruction manual).
After replacement, clean the machine thoroughly. Wipe away any powder around the machine cover and check for any loose screws before resuming use. If problems persist after replacement, do not repeatedly test the machine. First, contact the customer service of the feed pellet maker machine manufacturer, providing your operating steps. Customer service can usually help you identify the problem.
