Preparation
Fresh ingredients for extruder for feed: Choose a household extruder (300-500W, plug-in compatible), with 3-5mm molds (3mm for cats, 4mm for small dogs, 5mm for large dogs). Ingredient formula: Dog food (30% chicken breast + 25% cornmeal + 20% oat flour + 15% carrot + 5% fish oil + 5% calcium powder); Cat food (25% salmon + 20% chicken + 25% rice flour + 15% pumpkin + 5% taurine + 10% calcium powder).
Production Steps
Step 1: Processing the ingredients. Cut chicken breast and salmon into small pieces and grind them into minced meat using a meat grinder; steam carrots and pumpkin until cooked, then mash them into a puree; mix cornmeal and rice flour with warm water to form a paste (not too thin).
Step 2: Mixing and stirring. Pour the minced meat, vegetable puree, and powdered ingredients into a large bowl. Add fish oil and calcium powder, and stir clockwise for 5 minutes, maintaining a moisture content of 28% (it should clump together when grabbed and not crumble when dropped).
Step 3: Animal feed extruder machine setup. Preheat the animal feed extruder for 3 minutes (80-100℃; lower temperatures help retain nutrients in pet food). Install the corresponding mold and test the machine with a small amount of feed to check if the pellets form completely.
Step 4: Pelletizing and cooling. Pour the feed into the hopper; the machine will slowly extrude pellets. Catch the pellets by hand and place them on a baking tray to cool naturally for 1 hour. Do not use a hairdryer, as this will affect the texture.
Step 5: Packaging and refrigeration. Divide the cooled pellets into small portions and store them in freezer bags. They can be refrigerated for 3 days or frozen for 1 month. Thaw before feeding; no reheating is required.
