Preparation
se a small machine with high-calcium feed: Choose a mini fish feed making machine (producing 50-100 catties per hour, enough for 100 turtles for a week), with molds 2-3 mm thick (2 mm for juveniles, 3 mm for adults). Feed formula: Aquatic turtle food (25% fish meal + 20% shrimp meal + 20% corn meal + 20% shell powder + 10% vegetable powder + 5% vitamins); Tortoise food (30% alfalfa meal + 20% soybean meal + 20% corn meal + 20% calcium powder + 10% fruit powder).
Production Steps
Step 1: Raw material pretreatment. If the fish meal and shrimp meal are lumpy, break them up first; use fine shell powder (to avoid scratching the turtle's intestines); mix vegetable powder (dried and ground carrots and spinach) and fruit powder (dried and ground apples and bananas) in advance.
Step 2: Humidification and pressurization. Mix all ingredients thoroughly with dry ingredients, then add warm water and stir until the moisture content is 22% (slightly drier than other feeds, making it more resistant to soaking). Squeeze the mixture several times by hand to make it compact.
Step 3: Machine Operation. Preheat the mini fish feed mill for 5 minutes (130℃; high temperature makes the pellets harder). After loading the mold, test the machine to see if the pellets can be extruded smoothly. If they break, add a little more water.
Step 4: Pelletizing and Drying. Cut the extruded pellets into 1-2 cm pieces, place them on a wire rack, and dry them in a dryer (60℃, 2 hours) or in the sun for 3 hours until the moisture content is below 12%.
Step 5: Storage. Store the dried turtle food in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. It can be stored for up to one month. When feeding, simply add it to water; no pre-soaking is required.
