The selection of raw materials for automatic dog food making mills must closely consider the dietary differences between dogs and cats-dogs can tolerate some plant-based ingredients, while cats rely on animal-derived nutrition. Palatability and digestibility must also be taken into account.

 

I. Suitable Raw Materials for Dog Feed

Dogs are omnivores, so raw materials can be both animal and plant-based. Protein ingredients should primarily consist of chicken meal (20%-30%) and beef meal (10%-15%), supplemented with soybean meal (15%-20%) to reduce costs. For puppies, the animal protein ratio should be increased to over 40%. Energy ingredients should include corn (25%-35%) and oats (10%-15%). The dietary fiber in oats promotes intestinal motility and is suitable for adult dogs. Add 5%-10% carrot powder and pumpkin powder to supplement vitamins and natural pigments. To improve palatability, add 3%-5% chicken fat or beef tallow, along with 0.2%-0.5% lysine to meet growth requirements. Avoid using irritating ingredients such as onion powder and garlic powder.

 

II. Suitable Raw Materials for Cat Food

Cats are strict carnivores and must primarily consume animal-derived ingredients, supplemented with taurine. Protein sources should primarily consist of fish meal (25%-35%) and chicken meal (20%-25%), avoiding large amounts of plant protein; soy protein should not exceed 5%. Energy sources should include rice flour (15%-20%) and corn germ meal (10%-15%), which are easily digestible and do not burden the digestive system. Taurine is an essential nutrient for cats and should be added directly at 0.1%-0.2%, or indirectly supplemented by adding ingredients such as squid meal (5%-8%). Adding 3%-5% egg yolk powder provides lecithin, improving the quality of the cat's coat. Palatability can be improved by using animal offal powder (such as chicken liver powder, 5%-10%), but the dosage must be controlled to avoid excessive vitamin A intake.
