What to do if the animal feed pellet mill is making abnormal noise or vibrating excessively?

Cause of the fault

  1. Loose or misaligned components: Loose bolts on the pellet mill's pressure roller shaft or die can cause misalignment and collisions during operation; or the motor and pellet mill's pulleys may not be on the same horizontal line, causing the belt to pull on the equipment, generating vibration and noise.
  2. Damaged bearings: Worn roller or motor bearings (e.g., lack of lubrication, dust ingress) cause the balls to rub against the bearing housing during operation, producing a "rustling" or "clunking" sound and causing the machine body to vibrate.
  3. Hard impurities in raw materials: Gravel or metal pieces in the raw materials can become stuck between the pressure roller and die, rubbing and colliding with each other during high-speed operation, generating sharp noise.
  4. Unstable equipment placement: If the feed mill body is not fixed to a level surface, or the anchor bolts are loose, the equipment will shake during operation, colliding with the ground or surrounding objects and generating noise.

Solution

  1. Tightening and calibrating components: First, disconnect the power supply. Use a wrench to check each fixing bolt of the pressure roller shaft and mold, and tighten any loose bolts. Then, use a level to measure the pulleys. If they are not on the same horizontal line, loosen the motor fixing bolts, adjust the motor position, and ensure that the center lines of the two pulleys are aligned before fixing the motor.
  2. Replacing damaged bearings: Open the bearing cover of the pressure roller or motor. If the bearing is rusted or the balls are missing, replace it directly with the same model bearing. After replacement, add an appropriate amount of grease and replace the bearing cover.
  3. Removing hard impurities: Disassemble the feed inlet and outlet of the pellet mill and use tools to remove any stones or metal pieces stuck inside. Then, check the raw material screening equipment and replace any damaged screens to prevent impurities from re-entering.
  4. Adjusting equipment placement: Move the feed mill to a level surface and use a level to calibrate the machine body. If the ground is uneven, place iron plates under the machine's feet to level it. Then, tighten the anchor bolts to ensure the machine body is stable and does not wobble.
