How Much Do You Know About The Processing Flow Of Dry Type Pet Feed Extruder Line?
Leave a message
The unique growth characteristics of crustaceans such as shrimp and crabs mean that the processing technology of pet meal making production lines is largely unknown. Many farmers, unaware of these specialties, mistakenly use ordinary aquaculture production lines, resulting in substandard feed quality. Specialized aquaculture feed production lines focus on "high foam resistance, high calcium, and low solubility." The process encompasses specialized raw material processing, precise ingredient formulation, high-pressure conditioning, high-pressure extrusion, low-temperature drying, and finished product testing. Each step has dedicated equipment and parameters, making the technological barriers far higher than those of ordinary feed production lines.
The specialized raw material processing stage is the core of specialized aquaculture feed, characterized by "calcium source refinement" and "component encapsulation." Shrimp and crab feed requires the addition of calcium sources such as shell powder and fish bone meal. These raw materials are extremely hard and must be ground to at least 100 mesh using a ball mill to ensure uniform calcium distribution and easy absorption. The grinding time is as long as 2-3 hours, more than twice the grinding time of ordinary feed. Protein raw materials such as fish meal and shrimp meal are easily oxidized and must be dried at a low temperature of 50-60℃ using a vacuum dryer, with the moisture content controlled below 8%. For heat-sensitive ingredients such as Vitamin C and EPA, microencapsulation is required. A spray-drying encapsulation machine is used to wrap them in a protective layer to prevent loss during processing. This step is not present in ordinary aquaculture production lines.
Precise ingredient proportioning and high-pressure extrusion are key to improving feed's foam resistance. The proportioning system needs to be equipped with more than 10 proportioning bins. High-density raw materials such as shell powder use high-precision weighing sensors with an accuracy of 0.01 kg to ensure that the calcium content error is controlled within ±0.2%. A twin-shaft paddle mixer is used, with a mixing time extended to 5-6 minutes to ensure uniform distribution of trace components. The extrusion stage uses a high-pressure twin-screw extruder with an extrusion pressure of 15-20 MPa, twice that of ordinary aquaculture extruders, and a ring die compression ratio of 1:8-1:10. High pressure densifies the feed particles, reducing water loss. Conditioning utilizes a three-stage steam conditioner, gradually raising the temperature to 110-120℃ and humidity to 17%-19%, ensuring thorough starch gelatinization and the formation of a stable gel structure.
Refined drying and testing processes ensure feed quality. Drying employs a mesh belt dryer with segmented temperature control: 60-70℃ in the feeding zone, 70-80℃ in the middle zone, and 50-60℃ in the discharge zone, for 30-40 minutes. This avoids high temperatures damaging encapsulated components, resulting in a final moisture content of 10%-11%. Cooling uses low-temperature air cooling at a controlled speed of 1-2 m/s, slowly lowering the temperature to room temperature to prevent particle cracking. Finished product testing is an essential step in the specialized pet floating food production line. In addition to routine moisture and particle size testing, it includes immersion resistance testing (shrimp feed must remain submerged in water for at least 40 minutes without disintegrating) and calcium loss rate testing. Only after passing these tests can the feed be packaged. Packaging uses a waterproof and moisture-proof composite film to ensure the feed does not deteriorate in the humid aquaculture environment.
