How Proper Finished Product Handling Can Reduce Losses in The Chicken Feed Production Line

If the finished product handling process (cooling, screening, packaging, and storage) of the Cattle Feed Complete Production Line is not handled properly-for example, incomplete cooling (leading to moldy and discarded finished products), powder leakage during screening (waste of broken materials), or damaged packaging (leaking during transportation)-all the hard work of producing finished products will be wasted. Properly handling finished products and reducing waste in the "last mile" is also a crucial aspect of cost control on the production line.

Methods of controlling costs

1. Thorough cooling is crucial to prevent mold and waste: Freshly made pellets are 70-80℃ with a moisture content of around 15%. Direct bagging will cause mold growth. The cooling machine on Agricultural Feed Pellet Equipment must be properly adjusted: for example, a cooling time of 20-30 minutes (adjust according to pellet size, longer for larger pellets). The cooled pellets should be at approximately room temperature (±2℃) and have a moisture content of 12%-14%. Measure the moisture content of the cooled pellets three times daily using a moisture meter. If the moisture content is high, increase the cooling machine's fan speed; if the temperature is high, extend the cooling time. Proper cooling can reduce the mold rate from 5% to below 1%, saving hundreds of kilograms of feed per month.

2. Finished product screening: "Keep whole, remove broken pieces"-don't waste broken pieces: Cooled pellets may contain broken pieces, which will affect quality if directly bagged. Screening is necessary. New Poultry Pellet Feed Production Lines should be equipped with a vibrating screen (3mm aperture) to remove broken pieces and retain whole pellets. Don't throw away the sieved feed scraps; collect them and return them to the pellet mill (mixing them into the new raw materials at a ratio of 10%). Don't pelletize them separately (separate pelleting tends to result in even finer scraps). This method can achieve a 90% utilization rate of the scraps, saving tens of kilograms of feed each month.

3. Choose sturdy packaging to prevent feed leakage during transport: If the packaging bags are not sturdy, they will break during transport, resulting in feed leakage and waste. For chicken pellet feed production lines, choose plastic woven bags with a thickness of 0.12mm or more (avoid thin bags less than 0.1mm). Use a heat sealer to seal the bags (the seal width should be at least 1cm; avoid using rope, as it can easily loosen). Also, don't overfill the bags (fill to about 80% capacity) to prevent them from bursting. Proper packaging can reduce the leakage rate during transport from 3% to below 0.5%, saving hundreds of kilograms of feed per year.
