How Should I Choose A Small Fish Food Making Machine?

For farming herbivorous/omnivorous fish (such as grass carp, common carp, and crucian carp), a single-screw or twin-screw fish feed extruder machine with flexible extrusion adjustment is suitable. These fish mostly feed on sinking or semi-sinking feed, so the pellet mill needs to be able to control the feed density by adjusting the extrusion parameters. Single-screw extruders offer high cost-effectiveness and are suitable for small to medium-scale farming. By adjusting the temperature (110-130℃), pressure (2-4MPa), and screw speed (300-400r/min), sinking feed can be produced. Twin-screw models offer more stable extrusion results and are suitable for large-scale farming. They can precisely produce semi-sinking feed, adapting to the feeding needs of fish in all water layers. A replaceable die design with an orifice diameter of 2-5mm is recommended to accommodate different fish sizes. For example, when farming grass carp, a single-screw extruder is used, with the temperature set at 120℃ and the pressure at 3MPa to produce sinking feed, perfectly suited to the grass carp's bottom-feeding habits. When farming carp, parameters are adjusted to produce semi-sinking feed, improving feeding efficiency.

For farming carnivorous fish (such as bass, mandarin fish, and grouper), it is essential to choose automatic fish food making equipment with excellent extrusion performance.

These fish require high-protein, floating feed with a long buoyancy time (8-12 hours), strong water resistance, and high protein digestibility and absorption. The high-temperature, high-pressure extrusion environment of a twin-screw extruder (130-150℃, 4-5MPa) allows for sufficient protein denaturation, improving digestibility and absorption, while simultaneously creating a porous structure within the feed to ensure stable buoyancy. The equipment must be equipped with a precise temperature control system and pressure monitoring instruments to ensure stable extrusion performance. A 2-4mm aperture die specifically designed for floating feed should be selected to ensure uniform pellet size. For example, when farming sea bass, a twin-screw extruder is used to produce high-protein floating feed with a floating time of over 10 hours, allowing sea bass to feed fully at the water surface, reducing feed waste, and simultaneously increasing growth rate.

For farming specialty fish (such as yellow catfish and loach), small, fine extruders are suitable. These fish are small in size and have narrow mouths, requiring 1-2mm fine pellet feed with good binding and digestibility. Small fish feed pellet making machines have die orifices accurate to 1mm and finely adjustable extrusion parameters (temperature 120-130℃, speed 350-400r/min), producing soft, easily digestible fine pellet feed that meets the growth needs of specialty fish. It is recommended to choose an integrated model with raw material pretreatment functions (crushing and mixing) to reduce additional equipment investment, suitable for small to medium-scale specialty fish farming.
