What Actions Should I Take If My Fish Pellet Machine Stops Working Due To Ingredient Changes?

content

Before changing feed, a thorough cleaning of the machine is essential, and this is the most easily overlooked step. Completely clean the fish feed maker chamber and feed inlet of the old feed. For example, if you previously used corn feed and are now switching to fish meal, residual corn meal can clump together with the fish meal, causing jams. You can pour dry bran into the fish feed maker and run it idle for 3 minutes to remove the residue, then use a brush to clean the chamber walls.

Then adjust the parameters according to the characteristics of the feed: High-protein feeds (fish meal, meat meal) are sticky and prone to sticking to the chamber, so increase the speed by 20 rpm to allow the feed to pass through the extrusion chamber quickly, while lowering the temperature by 5°C to reduce stickiness; high-fiber feeds (straw powder, bran) are harder, so increase the temperature and slow down the speed to allow the feed to fully extrude in the chamber and protect the screw from wear.

After changing feed, test with a small batch first. Don't add a large amount of feed at once; start with 1 kg and observe the pelleting and operation. If the pelleting is smooth and the fish feed pelletizer is not stuck, then feed in batches. If the pelleting is intermittent, fine-tune the speed until it stabilizes. For example, when switching to alfalfa meal, adjusting the speed from 300 rpm to 280 rpm and the temperature from 90℃ to 95℃ will immediately solve the problem.
