When selecting a feed processing production line, what capacity and configuration factors need to be considered based on the scale of farming?

The scale of farming directly determines the amount of feed required. Small farms (such as a 500-head pig farm or a 10,000-chicken farm) will have to work on a large production line (capacity of 5 tons/hour) if they choose it, which will result in idle equipment, wasted space, and an initial investment of over one million. On the other hand, large farms (such as a 10,000-head pig farm or a 100,000-chicken farm) will have to work overtime frequently due to insufficient capacity if they choose a small production line (capacity of 1 ton/hour), and may even have to purchase feed from outside sources, which will increase the cost of farming.

Key selection factors (based on farming scale)

Capacity Matching: Determine production line specifications based on average daily feed demand.

1. Small-scale farms (average daily demand 1-3 tons): Select a "small compact production line," with core equipment (crusher + mixer + pellet mill) having a capacity of 1-2 tons/hour, equipped with simple conveying equipment (such as belt conveyors). No complex warehousing system is required. Initial investment is 200,000-400,000 RMB, sufficient for daily production with no idle time.

2. Medium-scale farms (average daily demand 5-10 tons): Select a "medium standard production line," with a capacity of 3-5 tons/hour, equipped with an automatic batching system (supporting 8-12 kinds of raw materials), cooling and screening equipment, and a semi-automatic packaging machine. Requires 300-500㎡ of space, with an investment of 500,000-800,000 RMB, balancing capacity and cost.

3. Large-scale farms (average daily demand over 15 tons): Select a "large-scale automated production line," with a capacity of 8-15 tons/hour, fully automated (intelligent batching + unattended pelleting + automatic warehousing), and equipped with MES (Manufacturing Execution System). The management system requires 800-1200㎡ of space and an investment of 1.5-3 million RMB, suitable for the high-efficiency needs of large-scale farming.

Site Adaptability: The site should be planned according to the production line layout requirements.

1.Small Production Line: No independent factory building is required; existing idle workshops in the farm can be utilized (minimum 50㎡, ceiling height ≥3m). Equipment is arranged in a linear layout for easy manual operation.

2.Medium-to-Large Production Line: Requires an independent factory building, with a zoned layout of "raw material area → processing area → finished product area" (raw material area near the warehouse, finished product area near the feeding passage). The workshop needs to reserve space for ventilation and dust removal equipment, with a ceiling height ≥4.5m (suitable for bucket elevators).

Personnel Allocation: Staffing should be allocated according to the automation level of the production line.

Small Production Line: Low automation level, requires 3-5 people to operate (feeding, packaging), suitable for small farms with fewer personnel; Medium to Large Production Line: High automation level, requires only 2-3 people for monitoring (control cabinet operation + equipment inspection), suitable for large-scale farms to reduce labor costs.
