Maintenance Challenges in Fish Feed Pet Food Extruder Production Lines

The causes of blockages can be mainly categorized into three types: raw material characteristics, small feed pellet machine parameters, and equipment condition. Regarding raw materials, high-fiber, high-moisture raw materials (such as sweet potato flour and alfalfa meal, with a moisture content >18%) easily absorb and clump together, forming bridging blockages at the feed inlet or conveying pipes. Large particles or insufficiently crushed clumps in the raw materials can also get stuck in the equipment gaps, causing blockages. Regarding equipment parameters, excessively fast feeding speeds exceeding the conveying capacity, or excessively large conveying pipe angles (>45°), can lead to raw material accumulation within the pipes. Insufficient negative pressure at the extruder feed inlet, preventing effective raw material intake, can also cause blockages at the front end. Regarding equipment condition, worn feeder auger blades, slipping conveyor belts, or oil and dust adhering to the inner walls of the pipes can all reduce conveying efficiency and cause blockages.

Blockage handling in small fish food making production lines should follow the principle of "safety first, step-by-step cleaning." First, immediately shut down the machine and disconnect the power to avoid overload and damage to the equipment. If the blockage is at the feed inlet, remove the protective cover and use a special plastic shovel to clean the clumps of raw material and remove impurities. Do not clean directly with your hands or metal tools to avoid injury. If the blockage is in the conveying pipe, you can determine the location of the blockage by tapping the pipe, disassemble the pipe flange for cleaning, or use compressed air to blow it back from the end. After cleaning, check the condition of components such as the feeder blades and conveyor belt, replace worn parts, and adjust the feed speed and pipe inclination angle to ensure smooth conveying.

The key to preventing blockages in floating fish feed pellet production lines is optimizing raw material and equipment management. In the raw material pretreatment stage, control the moisture content to 15%-17%, mix high-fiber raw materials with grain flour, and ensure uniform particle size of at least 80 mesh. Install vibration devices and magnetic separators in the feeding system to prevent raw material bridging and impurities from entering. For equipment maintenance, clean the feed inlet and the inner wall of the conveying pipe daily, check the wear of the feeder and conveying equipment weekly, and adjust the feed speed to match the extruder speed to avoid "feed imbalance". By implementing these measures, a feed mill reduced the frequency of blockages in its feeding and conveying system from five times a week to once a month, resulting in a significant increase in production efficiency.
