Practical Methods To Improve The Quality Of Extruded Feed Pellets

First, proper raw material selection is crucial. Stones and metal shavings in main ingredients like fishmeal and cornmeal can abrade equipment and affect taste, necessitating double filtration using a vibrating screen and magnetic separator. Shrimp feed requires even higher purity; even small amounts of weeds or impurities can deter shrimp from eating, necessitating manual sorting after initial screening.
The fineness of the powder needs adjustment. Fish fry and pet cat food require a finer grind (100 mesh or finer) for more compact pellets; adult fish feed only needs 80 mesh, as too fine a powder can cause clumping. Maintaining a moisture content of 16%-18% is ideal. The food should clump together when squeezed but crumble easily when released. Spray with warm water if too dry, and spread out to dry if too wet. This is especially important when making wet pet food; even a 1% increase in moisture can cause clumping.
There are also important considerations when combining ingredients. When adding 20% fishmeal to fish feed, it should be premixed with cornmeal to avoid excessive protein in certain areas causing the pellets to crack. When adding shrimp shell powder to shrimp feed, it should be left to stand for 10 minutes to allow the ingredients to fully blend. This way, the pellets extruded by the fish food making machine will not only have uniform nutrition but also have 30% better water resistance.

about Us
We offer a one-year warranty on all machines. MIKIM's feed pellet mills, charcoal briquetting machines, and other equipment all come with a one-year warranty. During the warranty period, if any quality issues arise due to materials, design, or manufacturing defects, we will replace the damaged parts free of charge and perform repairs and adjustments. However, easily damaged parts are unlikely to be covered under the free warranty, thus ensuring stable operation of the equipment throughout its core lifespan.
On-site installation, commissioning, and technical guidance: For complex complete sets of equipment such as feed production lines and extruders, we will dispatch professional technicians to the customer's location to handle on-site installation and commissioning, ensuring the equipment can be smoothly integrated into the customer's production process and meet preset production standards. Our technicians will also visit regularly to resolve various technical malfunctions and provide long-term on-site guidance on equipment operation and routine maintenance.
