Tips For Using An Animal Feed Pellet Machine

Equipment selection and capacity matching are fundamental. Large-scale production should utilize large twin-screw extruders with an hourly capacity of 500 kg or more, equipped with fully automated feeding and control systems to achieve full automation from raw materials to finished products. The extruder's operating mode should be planned according to the poultry's growth stages: broiler fattening chickens, with high feed demand, should operate on a 24-hour, three-shift system, with a short stop every 8 hours for cleaning; laying hens, requiring precise nutrient control, should operate on an intermittent basis to ensure stable parameters. Before starting the machine, the waste heat recovery system should be checked to ensure that the waste heat generated during extrusion is used for preheating the raw materials, reducing energy consumption.

 

Optimizing operating parameters improves efficiency and quality. In broiler feed production, the floating fish feed extruder machine speed should be set to 300-320 r/min, and the barrel temperature controlled at 105-110℃, achieving a starch gelatinization rate of over 90% and improving feed digestibility; in laying hen feed production, the speed should be reduced to 280-300 r/min, and the temperature to 95-100℃ to avoid high-temperature damage to amino acids. The feeding speed and screw speed are adjusted in tandem through a central control system. When the feeding speed increases to 500 kg/h, the speed increases synchronously to 320 r/min, ensuring a stable feed filling rate of 75% and preventing idling or blockage. Simultaneously, the ring die parameters are optimized: a 4mm aperture ring die with a 1:7 compression ratio is used for broiler feed, and a 5mm aperture ring die with a 1:8 compression ratio is used for layer hen feed, improving pellet formation rate and stability.

 

Operation and maintenance management reduces costs. A system of "daily inspection, weekly maintenance, and monthly overhaul" is established. Inspections focus on checking motor temperature, extruder noise, and feed uniformity; the ring die is disassembled and cleaned weekly to remove residual feed and check for wear; and the screw and barrel are inspected for wear monthly, with repairs made promptly if wear exceeds 1mm. A "preventative maintenance" model is adopted, with spare parts such as hammers and ring dies stockpiled in advance to avoid downtime losses due to sudden failures. Through data-driven management, the capacity, energy consumption, and failure rate of each extruder are recorded, and optimization potential is analyzed. For example, production plans can be adjusted according to electricity prices at different times, and full-load production can be carried out during off-peak hours to reduce electricity costs.
