During the puffing process, the mechanical treatment of high temperature and high pressure softens the cell wall of the fiber structure, which in turn causes the 1,4-glycosidic bond in the starch molecule to break, generating low molecular weight glucose, maltose and other substances, which are easier to be absorbed by animals. At the same time, the high pressure environment will also denature the protein, making the peptide chain stretched and loose, thereby increasing its contact area with the enzymes in the animal body, thereby improving the utilization rate of nutrients by 10% to 35%. In addition, the puffing process also helps the penetration of fat, improves the palatability of the feed, and thus increases the feeding rate.
