Q: Can a roller pellet mill process low-fiber, high-protein feed (such as bass feed containing 40% fishmeal)?
A: Yes, but parameters need to be adjusted. When processing low-fiber feed, it is recommended to reduce the gap between the two rollers to 0.1-0.2mm, and add 5%-10% wheat flour to the raw material (to increase viscosity) to prevent the pellets from becoming loose. If processing low-fiber feed for a long time, it is recommended to replace the rollers with smooth rollers (customizable by the manufacturer) to reduce excessive shearing of the high-protein raw materials by the textured surface and ensure pellet integrity.
Q: Should the floating fish feed pellet machine be stopped to cool them down?
A: Frequent shutdowns are not necessary, as the equipment has a built-in cooling design. The rollers are equipped with cooling channels, which can be circulated with room temperature tap water during operation to keep the roller temperature below 60℃. If cooling channels are not installed, it is recommended to stop the machine for 10 minutes every 2 hours of operation and use a fan to cool the rollers to prevent the raw materials from sticking to the rollers due to high temperature, which would affect the pelleting effect.
