Can improving the water resistance of extruded pellet feed increase the production capacity of shrimp feed pellet production lines?
Leave a message
The challenge of fish and shrimp pellet production lines (such as sea bass feed and shrimp feed) is to balance water resistance and production capacity. To prevent the feed from disintegrating after soaking for 2 hours, the extrusion speed is often slowed down, resulting in low production capacity. However, if the speed is increased, the pellets tend to break apart. In fact, by optimizing the formula, equipment, and post-processing, both water resistance and production capacity can be achieved.
Formula fine-tuning
Replacing Corn Flour with Wheat Flour
Increasing the proportion of wheat flour in the formula from 10% to 15% (and decreasing corn flour from 25% to 20%) enhances particle stickiness due to the gluten protein in wheat flour, improving water resistance from 1.5 hours to 2.5 hours without affecting protein content. After formula adjustment, the extruder speed can be increased from 300 rpm to 350 rpm, increasing production capacity by 16%.
Adding 0.5% Konjac Flour: Low-Cost Improved Water Resistance
Adding 0.5% konjac flour to the shrimp feed formula (increasing cost by 20 yuan per ton of feed) improves particle water resistance from 2 hours to 3 hours without affecting shrimp digestibility. Once water resistance meets standards, cooling speed can be accelerated, processing an additional 0.2 tons of feed per hour.
The mold is customized with hole diameters according to the size of the fish and shrimp.
Shrimp feed: Use 1-2mm micro-molds
Replacing ordinary molds (error ±0.3mm) with dedicated micro-molds (orifice error ±0.1mm) improves particle size uniformity from 80% to 98%, reduces screening rework, and increases hourly production capacity by 0.15 tons.
Sea bass feed: Use 5-6mm stepped molds
The mold orifice is designed to be "wider on the outside and narrower on the inside" (6mm inlet, 5mm outlet), resulting in tighter material extrusion, improved water resistance by 30%, and increased mold output speed from 10kg/min to 12kg/min, increasing production capacity by 20%.
