Common Issues When Adjusting the Feed Rate of a floating fish feed pellet making machine

Problem 1: Overfeeding causes extruder blockage – Timely pressure reduction and gradual feed reduction

Overfeeding is the most common problem, which manifests as a sudden increase in pressure (over 6MPa) in the small fish food pellet making machine, poor discharge, abnormal noise from the equipment, and in severe cases, screw jamming. Solution: Immediately stop feeding, keep the extruder idling for 2-3 minutes, slowly open the pressure relief valve to discharge residual material from the extrusion chamber; after the pressure drops to the normal range (4-6MPa), adjust the feed rate to 50% of the original, gradually increasing it by 5% each time, observing the extruder's operation status every 3 minutes, and simultaneously checking for die blockage. Clean any residual material before continuing adjustments.

Problem 2: Insufficient feed leads to loose particles and poor buoyancy – Steadily increase feed and optimize extrusion parameters

Insufficient feed causes the dry pet food making machine to idle, resulting in excessive or insufficient material residence time in the extrusion chamber, leading to loose, brittle particles with poor buoyancy. Solution: Gradually increase the feed rate by 10% each time, observing the pellet quality every 2 minutes. Simultaneously, fine-tune the extruder parameters. If the pellets are loose, appropriately increase the extruder temperature by 5-10℃ and the pressure by 0.5-1MPa to extend the material maturation time. If the pellets are burnt, appropriately decrease the temperature and increase the feed rate, ensuring precise matching between the feed rate and extruder parameters until the pellets are uniformly formed and meet the buoyancy standard.

Problem 3: Feed fluctuations cause parameter imbalance in the dog food maker machine – Stabilize feed and investigate potential equipment problems

After adjustments, some users experienced fluctuations in the feed rate (e.g., sometimes more, sometimes less), leading to unstable extruder temperature and pressure, and inconsistent pellet quality. The root cause is often a malfunction in the feeding system (e.g., conveyor belt slippage, insufficient material level in the hopper) or inadequate raw material pretreatment. Solution: Check the feeding system, tighten the conveyor belt, and replenish the raw materials in the hopper to ensure uniform feeding; check the pre-treatment of raw materials (particle size 80-100 mesh, moisture 12%-14%) to avoid large particles and high moisture content causing feeding difficulties; at the same time, calibrate the frequency converter and sensors of the feeding system to ensure precise adjustment, solve the problem of feeding fluctuations at the root, and ensure the stable operation of the Homemade dog food Maker machine.
