Extrusion and shearing: The conditioned raw materials enter the screw extrusion system of the extruder. Under the push of the screw, the raw materials are subjected to strong extrusion and shearing. The high-speed rotation of the screw causes friction heat to be generated in the barrel of the raw materials. At the same time, the external steam and hot water system will also heat the barrel, further increasing the temperature of the raw materials. Under the combined action of high temperature, high pressure and mechanical shear force, the structure of the raw materials changes, starch gelatinizes, protein denatures, and cellulose and other components are also destroyed, thereby improving the nutritional content and digestibility of the feed.

Puffing and molding: The extruded and sheared materials are extruded from the die hole of the extruder and enter a low-pressure environment. Due to the sudden release of pressure, the water inside the material quickly vaporizes and expands, increasing the volume of the material and forming puffed feed. At the same time, the material will form a certain shape during the extrusion process, such as granules, flakes, etc., which is convenient for subsequent drying and packaging.
Drying and cooling: The water content of the puffed feed is high, and it needs to be dried to reduce the moisture content of the feed and extend the shelf life of the feed. The dried feed also needs to be cooled to reduce its temperature to a suitable range for easy storage and transportation.
