High-moisture raw materials: No drying required, use directly.

Ordinary pellet mills are susceptible to clogging when raw materials are too wet (over 15%), but extrusion pellet mills can handle raw materials with a moisture content of 18%-25%-such as fresh algae (22% moisture) and freshly pressed soybean meal residue (20% moisture). No pre-drying is necessary; the raw materials can be directly mixed with other materials and fed into the machine. This is because high-temperature heating evaporates some of the moisture, and high-pressure extrusion kneads the wet raw materials into a uniform "clump," preventing clumping and screw blockage.

High-fiber raw materials: No pretreatment required, just crush them directly.

Raw materials with high crude fiber content (15%-30% crude fiber), such as straw powder and bran, are difficult for ordinary pellet mills to process and can even wear down the screw. However, the screw of a local fish feed machine has a "shearing thread"-it can cut and grind the crude fiber like scissors when rotating. Combined with high temperature, the fiber is softened (becomes more resilient) and finally mixed with starch and protein to form pellets. For example, adding 20% ​​straw powder to chicken feed will still produce a compact pellet that chickens can digest.
