What kind of training is required to operate pet food processing machines?

Basic structural knowledge training for pet food making machines is a core component. Operators need to fully understand the core components and functions of the extruder, including the feeding system, extrusion system, heating system, transmission system, and control system. For the feeding system, operators need to understand the type of feeder (volumetric or gravimetric), adjustment method, and raw material delivery path to avoid equipment blockage due to uneven feeding. For the extrusion system, operators must be familiar with the screw structure (single or twin screw), speed range, and clearance with the barrel, as this directly affects the forming effect of the pet food. For the heating system, operators need to understand the temperature control principles of electric or steam heating and master the temperature setting range for different zones. For the transmission system, operators need to understand the operating characteristics of the motor and reducer and the function of overload protection devices. For the control system, operators need to be familiar with the touchscreen interface and master the basic operations of parameter setting, status monitoring, and fault alarms.

Safety training is an indispensable and crucial component. The training content must cover three major areas: mechanical safety, electrical safety, and thermal safety. Regarding mechanical safety, the integrity of protective devices must be emphasized. Protective covers at the feed inlet, discharge outlet, and transmission parts must not be removed without authorization. When cleaning the equipment, the "power off - tag - lock" procedure must be followed, and operation should only commence after the pet food pellet machine has completely stopped. For electrical safety, operators must understand the location and usage of leakage protection devices and emergency stop buttons. Touching the electrical box or washing live parts with water while the equipment is running is prohibited. Regarding thermal safety, operators must understand the temperature range of high-temperature components such as the extruder barrel and mold (typically reaching 120-180℃). High-temperature resistant gloves must be worn during operation to avoid burns. Furthermore, training must include emergency response procedures, such as the correct handling methods for sudden situations like material jams or sudden shutdowns, ensuring operators can respond quickly in dangerous situations.

Training effectiveness must be verified through both theoretical and practical assessments. The theoretical exam covers knowledge points such as equipment structure and safety regulations. The practical assessment requires operators to identify equipment components on-site, demonstrate emergency stop procedures and safe cleanup procedures. Only those who pass the assessment will receive basic operator qualifications.
