          From the point of view of the principle of motion, there are different types of isotropic and anisotropic engagement and disengagement in fish food pellet makers. These extruders have low and high speeds, the former being mainly used for profile extrusion and the latter for special polymer processing operations.

          Close-meshing fish feed pelletizer: Low-speed extruders have close-meshing screw geometries where the helical profile of one screw closely matches that of the other, i.e., a conjugate screw profile. Self-cleaning extruder. High speed co-rotating extruders have closely matched screw profiles. The screws can be designed to have a relatively small screw gap, so that the screws have a closed self-cleaning action. This type of extruder is called a compact self-cleaning co-rotating extruder.

          The gap between the two screw channels of the tightly meshed counter-rotating fish feed maker is very small (much smaller than that of a co-rotating extruder), so forward conveying characteristics can be achieved.
